Times of Panama is an independent news, opinion, and resource platform dedicated to covering Panama and the wider Central American region. Our mission is simple: to make news about Panama accessible, organized, and easy to navigate for English-speaking readers around the world. Panama is a vibrant nation with a rich political, economic, cultural, and sporting story — yet much of its news is scattered across dozens of Spanish-language outlets, international wire services, and niche publications. We bring it all together in one place, clearly labeled and properly attributed.

We are committed to editorial independence, transparency in sourcing, and the free exchange of ideas. We do not endorse political parties or candidates. We do not accept payment for editorial coverage. Every story is selected on its journalistic merit and relevance to our readers.

How We Collect News

Times of Panama uses a hybrid approach to gather content from a wide range of sources:

AI-Powered Web Search

Our platform uses artificial intelligence to search the web for the latest news articles about Panama from reputable international sources — including the Miami Herald, Reuters, AP News, Fox News, BBC, Caribbean Journal, ESPN, Forbes, and dozens more. The AI identifies articles that specifically mention Panama, Panama City, the Panama Canal, or other Panamanian cities and topics, then categorizes them by subject area.

The AI does not write original news reporting. It identifies relevant articles, extracts the headline and a brief summary, and links directly to the original source. Every article summary is a concise paraphrase — not a reproduction of the original text — and always credits the publication that broke the story.

RSS Feed Aggregation

We also monitor direct RSS feeds from select Panamanian and Central American news outlets that publish in English. These feeds provide structured, machine-readable content that we import automatically on a regular schedule.

Editorial Op-Eds and Guest Contributions

In addition to aggregated news, we publish original opinion pieces from our editorial team and welcome guest contributions from writers, experts, and community members. All guest submissions go through editorial review before publication. If you have a perspective to share, we invite you to submit an op-ed.

We take copyright law and journalistic ethics seriously. Our approach is built on the following principles:

Full Attribution: Every article on our platform clearly displays the name of the original source publication and a direct link to the original article. We never present another outlet's reporting as our own. Readers are always one click away from the full original story on the publisher's own website.

Summaries, Not Copies: We do not reproduce full articles. Each story includes a brief, originally-worded summary that paraphrases the key points of the original reporting. The summary is intended to help readers decide whether to read the full article at the source. We encourage all readers to visit the original publication for the complete story.

Fair Use: Our summaries and excerpts are provided under the principles of fair use — they are transformative, brief, non-substitutive, and always direct traffic back to the original publisher. We do not monetize another publication's content; we drive readers to it. Any quoted material is clearly marked as a quotation and kept to a minimal length.

AI Transparency: We are open about our use of artificial intelligence in the news-gathering process. AI is used as a tool to discover, categorize, and summarize publicly available news articles — not to fabricate stories, generate false information, or replace human editorial judgment.
